When I was in grad school, I got through the long nights of study and even longer days in the library by carrying around my own thermos of coffee. When I would enter the library, my friend working behind the desk would laugh and ask me to hold up my hands… to see if I’d drank enough to make them tremble!  It worked… I finished first in my class.

I started drinking coffee around my table with my father and mother in my late teens.  When ever I would hear mom holler, asking if I wanted my coffee, I would beat it downstair as that was our time together.  We loved having our “Coffee Time” each morning that we could all be together.  I remember shopping for a coffee pot that dad could set to brew coffee when he woke up…  The smell lingered in the mornings, and of course I will always remember the call upstairs, “Coffee, Coffee again this morning!”

I haven’t ever had YOUR coffee yet but I certainly remember the Christmas without coffee… and how production limped along.

I run a children’s charity in North Texas that provides books, balls and learning toys three times a year to low income children.  As you may have guessed, the toys are gathered at Xmas and we distribute about 38,000 each season so we use a lot of helping hands.  We have a huge warehouse site where we sort and package the gifts for each family using about 700 volunteers between Thanksgiving & December 20.  For the last 5 years, we rely on donations for snacks and drinks.

Last year, our coffee donation fell through. :(   I can’t tell you HOW much that impacted our volunteers.  EVERYONE commented on the lack of coffee.  We had cookie snacks from Frito Lay but no coffee to go with them – that means the folks who came straight from work to volunteer a couple of hours complained.  We had Mrs. Baird sweet rolls on Sat & Sun morning but no coffee so the weekenders were upset about that.  IT WAS ALL I HEARD ABOUT FOR A GOOD TWO WEEKS… “what happened?” “no coffee this year?”

It really wasn’t good enough to offer them Coca Cola products instead – Jeez, I mean there is caffiene in them too!

As a charity, with funding down last year, we didn’t budget for coffee for hundreds of folks but I WILL NEVER LET THAT HAPPEN AGAIN!

Anyway, our charity, Navidad en el Barrio website is http://www.navidaddfw.org/ if you want to check us out!

I like Nestle quick instant coffee because it is quick and easy to make.  During morning rush hour, I like to have a coffee for a pick-me-up and Nestle instant coffee fits the bill.

Coffee is usually included in my fun social interactions, so even the smell invokes happy feelings.

When in college, the coffee house as a hang out was in its glorious hayday.  Although we had lots of options to choose from, one in particular kept my friends and I coming back for more: the Coffee Plantation.  There were so many different flavor combos.  Our evening was spent boldly trying new coffee creations while visiting, joking, and playing games — creating lasting connections with one another… over coffee!

I remember when my grandma died, and the church members came to the house.  I smelled the coffee and wondered how they could drink coffee at a time like this.  I hated that smell!!!

I also remember when my grandson was born and we made coffee while we waited for his birth.  What a joyous time to share a cup of coffee.  I loved that smell!!!

During good times and bad there has always been a coffee pot going!!!

When I first met my husband, he could not understand why I didn’t like coffee.  He would concoct these fancy coffee drinks, and I would not drink them.  Finally, I caved to his charms and took a sip…  HEAVEN!!

I asked him if all coffee was really like this good, and when did they change it?  He asked what was I talking about.  My parents had only drank instant decaf coffee, super strong, and lukewarm.  I finally realized that there was REALLY good coffee out there!  I have a delicious homemade cappuccino every morning, thanks to my wonderful hubby!

As long as I have been a coffee drinker, I have only had one brand of coffee.  My brother owned a coffee company and to me it was the BEST!  Unfortunately he no longer has his company.  I am on my last bag of his coffee and am in the process of looking for something that might be as good as or close to his coffee.

I have tried a few brands and have almost decided to stop drinking coffee.  Most of the ones that I have tried taste bitter and yucky!  I really don’t want to give up my daily cup of Joe.  Can you please help me find another great cup of coffee?   Thank you so much!

When I was only about 10 or 12 years old, I just loved the smell of coffee.  I ate breakfast at my grandmother’s every school morning, and she would fix me a cup of coffee liberally laced with Pet Evaporated Milk.  Back then (50′s) everyone I knew used Maxwell House.  Since then I have tried many brands of coffee, some I liked and some I didn’t.  There are several I really like; but I am always on the lookout to try new brands and will look forward to trying yours. Thanks.

Wedding days are always stressful.  That’s why on mine, I started the morning with a hot cup of coffee to give me a boost for my big day!
