Not a story really… but just a memory. My Mom started to allow me to drink coffee once I was in high school. I was never a morning person, so to help get me up and going for the day, she would bring me a cup of coffee to my room every morning, to get me started. That was 20+ years ago, and I had completly forgotten about it, till last weekend, when my husband of 5 yrs for the first time ever brought me coffee in bed… and it reminded me of that time.

I love coffee, the taste and aroma is what gets me going in the morning.
I cannot wait to try yours, but do not send it to me if it is not going to be available in my area please.

When I was a newlywed, so many years ago, I did not know how to cook… anything. My dear, patient, husband was always happy to show me around the kitchen.
He had not yet shown me how to make coffee. I didn’t drink coffee at the time and, being a 22 year old, did not find it necessary to prepare something I did not consume.
One afternoon my mother-in-law popped in for a surprise visit. She was quite overbearing, and when my husband suggested coffee, she made quite a to-do when HE was the one going into the kitchen to prepare the coffee and not his new bride!
Being stubborn, and a little spiteful, I marched out of the room on my way to prepare the best pot of coffee anyone had ever tasted.
Standing there with carafe in one hand, and can of coffee in the other, I was perplexed! I figured out where the water went… and I knew that little paper thingee went somewhere! After some mental self-chastising I put it all together and the coffee began to brew!
I was quite proud of myself! However, I could possibly have made it a bit strong because my new husband and evil mother-in-law both requested a glass of water to accompany their coffee. I caught them both adding the water to their cups when they thought I wasn’t looking! In the 31 years since that incident took place I have learned to prepare and enjoy my own coffee. And it is NEVER too strong!

My children get a kick out of my morning chant of COOFFEE… COOFFIE… COOFFIE.
As soon as they smell it, they chime in with the chanting too!

I love the taste of coffee. I just don’t seem to function the same without my cups of coffee everyday. Before I retired we kept a pot of coffee going most of the day. My boss and I loved to experiment with different flavors. We both still do, but just don’t get to share it like we did.
Even in the hot of summer like we have now in Missouri I still must have my coffee to enjoy and make my day.

My story is about “Kraig.” I love Kraig. He’s my coffee maker. Well, more specifically he’s my coffee-pot. We live in the beautiful state of Colorado and love to go camping. We take our french press when we do, so we always have coffee on hand when we want it.
I honestly can’t be expected to camp with two kids without coffee, I mean come on! But one trip we forgot to bring the french press. We were sitting around the fire one on morning when I said absent-mindedly, “I really miss Kraig.”
My husband looked at me and said, “Is there something you need to tell me?” I started laughing realizing I had never told him that I named our coffee-pot at home. He laughed because he thought I was crazy for naming the coffee-pot and, I think, slightly out of relief!

My husband loves coffee and my whole family knows that. All our kids like coffee as well. When my youngest son was 3 years old he wanted coffee, and my husband and myself were both busy and asked him to wait a few minutes. The next thing we know, we smell coffee making. He had made his first pot of coffee all by himself, and it tasted great!!!!!!!!
Talk about loving coffee.

I home school my 4 wonderful children during the day and work in the evenings after my husband gets home. So as you can imagine, coffee is very important to me. I sometimes use instant coffee for a quick pick me up but prefer fresh brewed. As I sit and wait for that coffee to be done, it seems to take forever. And then, when it is done, I hear that sweet sound… you know, the one that the coffee pot makes when it is finished. Then I know relief is on the way!

It was always a special trip to go & visit our grandparents in upper state New York. My brother & I have so many special memories of swinging on the homemade “horse” swing, hanging from a backyard tree, swimming in the “creek”, picking out our favorite comic book and enjoying summer cook-outs of hamburgers & corn on the cob.
But my favorite memory is getting up early & having coffee with our grandma. She would always say, “Don’t tell your mother because I know she doesn’t want you drinking coffee until you’re older!” So, that was our secret. I have enjoyed coffee ever since.

I remember spending a week or two in the summer or some time at Christmas with my wonderful grandparents. I was never a late sleeper, and neither were they. I would get up in the quiet of the morning and they would have the little, silver, whistling teakettle at a gentle boil on their old gas stove. They would ask me what I would like for breakfast, and I also knew they would allow me to have some coffee with them. They used instant.
They would fix me a small cup, and I HAD to add Coffee-mate to it. I would sit there with them, just the three of us, and I would feel like a grown up drinking my coffee. I felt so warm and cozy and special. I still enjoy my coffee to this day and the quiet conversation in the morning with my husband, or my father if we are visiting. It is the perfect start to my day.
